INTRODUCTION:

I feel compelled to tell you the history of this card, not to brag about how much work I've put into it (I did that all on my own cause I HAD to make this card -lol) but to warn you that this is not the easiest card to explain or put together. Having pictures (ie shared files) will help.  And to ask you to bear with me, ask questions and PLEASE try this card.  I wish you luck and success. :o)
Sometime before Christmas a friend of mine received an advertisement for Lever 2000® in the form of a card that when opened revealed a secret picture (I know Helen received this ad also, anyone else?).  It was a very cool effect and of course, my friend and I immediately knew we had to try and recreate it.  We pulled the card apart, traced the four parts and I brought it home to work the magic (or at least I'd hoped I could).  That very night I went to work tracing and measuring parts.  Frankly, it was time consuming and frustrating.  Luckily, the next day I received the same advertisement because some lines on our tracings had been left out and I wasn't sure exactly where to glue the two small parts or how to weave them together and having the hands on real thing helped a great deal.  The next step was to make it small.  I have access to some large cardstock but I make and mail mostly A2 sized cards since that fits the envelopes locally available to me.  Then, when I thought I had it perfect I had to add 1/8 inch to the long middle section, so the final size is a tad bigger than 5 1/2 by 4 1/4 but it does fit in the A2 envelope (snug but sure)! And I am too tired to figure out the measurements again to lose the 1/8 inch so I'll leave that to any of you who want to venture there.

Center Panel (in two parts)
LEFT SIDE (side A)

This is in shared files under Folder named: Sliding Card Templates, Then under File named: TempA.jpg
OR http://www.egroups.com/files/stampntell/Sliding+Card+Templates/TempA.jpg.
Cut cardstock to 3 1/8" by 5 1/2" and  Score from right side 3/8".  Measure from top 3/8" and draw a horizontal line 3/4" long.  From this line measure 1/4" and draw another horizontal line 3/4" long.
Repeat from the bottom.  Cut these sections out so, without the score line on the right your card should look something like this:

top _edge _of_card___________
______________
___3/4"_cut out]

______________
___3/4"_cut out]
bottom____________________

Does that make sense?   Good  <grin>  Next you need to cut out a section that looks like this character [[   Draw a vertical line that 3/8" from the top and bottom and  is 1 1/8" from the left edge.  From this line, going in the direction of the scored line (towards the center of the card), draw a horizontal line 3/8" from the top that is 3/4" long. Repeat at the bottom of the card from the same line.  Lost yet?  Hopefully you can see and read some of this from the picture I uploaded to shared files.  The top of the shared files picture cuts off the 3/8" top edge but it gives you the cuts I want.  You should have this symbol [[ shape drawn on your card.  Make it 1/4" thick and cut it out.

Going on to the Second part of the Center panel ...

Center Panel (in two parts)
RIGHT SIDE (side B):

This is in shared files under Folder named: Sliding Card Templates Then under File named: TempB.jpg (note B NOT AB)
OR http://www.egroups.com/files/stampntell/Sliding+Card+Templates/TempB.jpg.
Cut cardstock to 8 3/8" by 5 1/2".       Score from left side 3/8" (probably a good idea to make this a tad
smaller?) (this is where the two center panels with glue together) From your score line measure and score 4 1/4" (or 4 5/8" from the left side).  From the right side measure and draw a vertical line that is 5/8" from the right edge and 1/2" from the top and bottom.  Now we are going to make a cut that looks like this symbol ]  From each end of this line draw a horizontal line that is 3/4" long that goes towards the left (center of card) -- this symbol ].  If you haven't already, cut along this line with your exacto knife (unless you are making a template first.  At each 90 degree corner you will cut out a small triangle (see picture in shared files).  Measure in  1 7/8" from the right edge and 1/2" from the top and bottom and make another line.  Draw a horizontal line on each end of this line that is 3/4" in length.  Again, use your exacto knife and cut along these lines.  At the 90 degree angles cut out small triangles.  You should be done with the second middle panel.

Big hugs if you've gone this far.
