REMEMBER - You are working on thin tissue paper so be sure to use light strokes. But once you get the hang of it, this is a fast and easy method of coloring. You can combine markers (Tombows, Marveys) and watercolor pencils
If you want a slightly darker color here and there, just lightly stroke the side of the marker on that section. Don't use the tip, because you will get too much color and it is too hard on the paper.
If your pencil is tearing the paper, run the side of the pencil over an emery board. This will give you a nice flat side to color with.
MARKERS - Use the side of the marker. The principle is the same as with the pencils.
Use light strokes and a slightly damp brush to push the color around and
into the corners.
You can combine pencils and markers on the same piece if you like.

OPTIONAL:
Now, apply a light layer of embossing ink to the front of the image. Don't rub the embossing ink on the image, just pat it on lightly or you will smear the watercolors.
Dip the image in clear EP, shake off the excess and heat it up. Don't be in a hurry and get the heat gun too close, or it will warp everything.
The first coat will probably be lumpy. You can leave it like that if you like it (some people do, cause It kind of looks like glass), but if you want it smooth, let it cool and apply a second light coat of embossing ink and wipe it off with a kleenex. You only want just enough embossing ink to hold the EP.
You can keep adding layers till the finish is as smooth as you like.
If you don't want to emboss, try this: Use krylon crystal clear glaze on the image. It will seal the colors but not turn out as shiny as when using EP. More subdued.

Sample #4, I covered the whole stained glass image with a piece of Miracle tape, then a
layer of clear beads (I used clear Faerie glass because they are really tiny), for a different look.

MOUNTING
You can color the background part of the image if you like, or when you mount the image, if you mount it on colored paper or pretty background paper it will show through.
When all the coloring is finished and dry, you can use some spray adhesive on the tissue side of the image, and mount it on background paper, or you can use another piece of miracle tape over the image on the tissue side. Peel off the second paper backing and mount it to the background paper.
Now cut around the image and mount it on cardstock.
