STAMP-N-TELL
SOAP DECORATING CLASS
Taught by
Virginia Bailey
SAMPLES:  There are six fantastic samples ready to view.

SUPPLIES:
*Parowax- household wax sold in one pound box containing four bars of wax. You will only use two bars.
*Bars of Soap- buy any type of square bars of soap. I do not recommend Dove because of the curve in the bar.
*Images- have precut images that you have stamped and colored. I recommend tissue paper and other thin paper like computer paper. Light weight cardstock is also fine.
*Images- You want images that are small enough to cover just the top of a bar of soap. With small flowers you can use several images and corner stamps are also nice.
*A disposable pie pan with NO holes in the bottom. A large frying pan.

INSTRUCTIONS:
Here is the first step in making decorative soap using your favorite stamps.
Please use the following method to melt your wax. DO NOT USE THE MICROWAVE. This is fast and fun and trips to hospital ER really increases the time involved in decorating your soap.
Place your frying pan on the stove on medium heat and fill about half full of water. Place you disposable pie pan in the water and add two bars of the wax.
DO NOT PLACE CONTAINER OF WAX DIRECTLY ON STOVE. IT IS HIGHLY FLAMMABLE AND NEEDS TO BE IN SET INTO THE PAN OF WATER.
While your wax is melting unwrap your soap bars and decide on the configuration of images you are using on each bar.
Use an old spoon to place a small amount of wax on one of the bars. You can also just hold the bar by the edges and dip the top of it into the melted wax. This is your adhesive layer. Quickly apply your images onto this wax. It will hold your images in place.
After you have applied the images to one of the bars hold it by the lower edges and immerse the top and part of the sides into the wax. Set aside to dry.
The Paraffin protects your images from water damage and the soap will only wear away from the bottom. This leaves your image intact.
You can also buy disposable guest towels and stamp them to match your soap.
Repeat until all bars are decorated.
I hope you have fun. This is a wonderful project to do with kids. They can prepare their images and you can do the paraffin and they will have great gifts for dad, grandmother, and teachers.
