STAMP-N-TELL
REVERSE MASK SPONGING TECHNIQUE
Taught by Connie Davis
Samples - Three ready to view!

Supplies Needed:

Cardstock for masking (lighter weight, scrap, etc.)
Cardstock for image
Memories dye ink pads - Black and/or Chestnut
Stamps with an open, simple design
Non-pigment ink pads of your choice
Stamp positioner (Mostly Animals Stamp-o-Graph is my favorite)
X-acto knife
Small detail scissors
Wedge-shaped makeup sponges
Dove blending pen
Masking tape
Optional:
Xyron laminator or clear contact paper
Rubber cement

Instructions:
1.  Stamp image on cardstock.
2.  Laminate if desired (this is great if you plan to use the reverse mask again).
3.  Using x-acto knife, cut the image out inside the lines of the design.  NOTE:  If your image has two or more possible colors make enough images for each color....  (the rose I used, for example.... I made a mask for the flower, and another one for the leaves).
4.  Using small detail scissors, trim close to the edges as necessary.  This is your “reverse mask.”
5.  Determine placement of your stamped image on the good cardstock and required placement of cardstock on positioner.
6.  Secure cardstock to stamp positioner using masking tape on the corners.
7.  Stamp image on the cardstock.
8.  Place reverse mask over the image and secure.  (You can either use masking tape or paint a light coat of rubber cement on the back of the mask.)
9.  Using sponge, color in the image as close to the edge as possible.
10.  If you have used a 2-color or more image, do one color at a time using this technique.
11.  Remove the mask.
12.  Using the blending pen, blend the color to the edges as desired.
13.  Ink the stamp again, and re-stamp the image.   You can also use pigment ink at this point and emboss the image.
14.  Remove image from the positioner.
15.  Mount as desired.
