STAMP-N-TELL
QUILT CARD CLASS
Taught by
Jay Warner
SAMPLES: There are four gorgeous samples ready to view.

SUPPLIES:
* One square stamp (1 to 1 1/2 inches) Preferably a quilt stamp. I use Rubber Stampede Harvest Star Quilt stamp.
* Two to six different background papers that compliment one another color wise (wrapping paper or specialty paper).
* Cardstock
* Pigment ink pads if embossing or regular dye pads if not embossing. Embossing gives the card a nice texture and depth.
* Four to six different embossing powders which compliment each other and the papers chosen.
* Scissors. (Also, decorative scissors such as deckle or corner edgers. These are not required but can be used when embellishing the card.)
* A good glue. (I used Pentel Roll'N Glue Quick Dry Liquid Adhesive.)
* Foam tape for dimension.
* Embellishments such as: raffia, ribbon, buttons, etc.

INSTRUCTIONS:
STAMPING/EMBOSSING
1. By now you will have picked out the papers, embossing powders and ink pads you will use to make your card. Remember you may use anywhere from two different papers on up. I think four is the best choice.
2. If you are using the recommended size stamp, you can cut your paper to 4" by 8 1/2" and you will get 8 images on each paper.
3. Now, ink your stamp and start stamping and/or embossing as you choose. Try to make sure that your embossing powders are complimentary to your chosen papers. To make a 4 1/4 by 5 1/2 card, you will need to stamp at least 6 of the same image on at least 4 different background papers. If you desire a larger card, you will need to stamp more images depending of the size card and the size of your stamp. Remember that you do not need to emboss to make this card. You may use dye-based ink pads, but you will not have the texture that embossing provides.
CUTTING
1. Now is the time to cut out all your stamped images. Make sure that you cut your squares precisely the same size so that they will fit together nicely. You should have a variety of textured squares which will create the fabric look to your card.
2. After you have cut all your squares, arrange them on a piece of scratch paper as you want them to appear on your actual card.
ASSEMBLY
1. Fold cardstock to the desired size. (I usually fold a piece of cardstock in half).
2. Glue each piece as you are about to lay it down on the card. Start in the upper left hand corner. Make sure that each square is glued well to the card.
3. When you have glued all the squares on the card to the desired size, cut the excess cardstock away. Be very careful that you do not trim away any part of the squares.
EMBELLISHING
1. You should have extra squares. If you desire you may use foam tape to mount some of these on top of your card. However, before doing this, glue the squares to a piece of cardstock and cut them out. This will make them more sturdy for the embellishment. You can cut the squares from one corner to the center of the image and then interlock these and mount to your card. Or you may just want to mount the full image in several areas on the card. You can use decorative scissors on these squares as they do not need to be precise like the ones that make up your card.
2. Additional embellishments: buttons, ribbon, raffia or just about anything else. You do not need to use additional embellishments as the card itself with the additional mounted squares, looks just fine.
Final Words
1. You have now completed a quilt card. I am almost positive that you will not want to send this card to anyone. But, at least, you now have a sample to work from should you decide to make more to send out.
2. I thank you for your time and hope you enjoyed this class.
3. You may e-mail me privately at any time with questions.
