STAMP-N-TELL
GETTING TO KNOW YOU
***LINDA JACKSON***
Tell us a little about yourself, your family, your job, your home, etc.
I live in Maryland (all my life) with my husband, Rocky and our mini poodle RJ.  We got married late in our lives (43 for me, 40 for him), and first time for both of us. I've been teaching for 29 years....elementary special education. After this year I need to make some decisions about what I'll be doing after my 30 years is over. It would be wonderful if I could do something stamping related, but I'll just have to see what the options are.

How did you first get involved in stamping?

I hosted a Stampin' Up party.  Carol Duvall or some other craft show had a segment on what you could do with stamps (very basic stuff) and that got me interested enough to have a party.  I HATED my first cards, and put the stamps away for months.  Then I learned how to emboss and that made all the difference.  For about two years, that's all I did - whatever I learned from the SU demonstrator. Then I discovered stamp stores and classes. My first class was  "Using One Stamp."  I learned so much....I was hooked forever.

What is your favorite technique?
My favorite....I would have to say would be the faux finish cards.  It's the technique I always go back too if I get stuck.

What is your favorite card you have ever made: one you are the proudest of?

My favorite cards are the ones I did for the PPA and pearl-ex class....the dogwood and the pansy card. Another favorite is the one that was in Stamper's Sampler....it was such a thrill to have a card published.

What are your favorite stamp companies and why?
Hasn't this changed over the years?  My first favorite was PSX.  Then came Stampscapes. followed by Magenta and Stamps Happen.  Of those, I still love Magenta. Hero Arts seems to be getting quite a bit of my money these days, but I seem to be buying from a lot of different companies.

What are your favorite type images you use in stamping?
I'm beginning to think I own almost every leaf stamp ever made and for some reason continue to buy these. And I have a lot of floral and landscape images.  I'm trying to branch out and get into other things.

What are your favorite colors?

Shades of blue and green.

What is one dream you have that you wish could come true?
Just one??? I would love to have a card published in Somerset. Another dream to meet more list members.

What is your biggest pet peeve?
Mean people. People who think their opinion is more important than someone's feelings.

Anything else you would like to share? Like things you collect, things that make you happy, and so
I'm very proud of my switchplate collection....they are copper enameled.  I've done all my light switches and am now working on visible outlet plates. The artist's name is Adrienne Blum...her work is just beautiful.

I have so much that makes me happy....my family.....my friends....stamping. I just love belonging to this list. We have so much talent here and a willingness to share that is so inspiring.
